[edit] Merger with 'Crime of 1873'
The Crime of 1873 article seems to cover exactly the same subject, albeit in a far less NPOV way. It contains some useful information, however, which isn't covered here. I think that the factual content could be usefully added here to produce a pretty good article. - Crosbiesmith 22:14, 23 January 2006 (UTC)
- Meld them. John Jay Knox was a banker who wrote the bill. He and Henry Linderman believed that gold coins were preferable to silver coins. U. S. President "Ron" Reagan sold some of the gold that those two men cherished. Times change, back and forth. The article could use a better title. I had sought to create Coinage Act of 1873, then I located Fourth Coinage Act. Coinage Act (1873) is a good title, because searchers will seek "Coinage Act" at the outset of their search. Many people who might search for the Crime of 1873 do not care about the details of the Act, but rather the reactions to it. Merging these articles might serve to cause confusion, and keeping the legal/technical side seperate from the social ramifications makes more sense to me. --Dsg123456789 01:54, 5 May 2006 (UTC)
