Clyde Hart

Clyde Hart is the head coach[1] for the Baylor University track and field teams. He also serves as assistant athletics director.

Hart is primarily known for coaching Michael Johnson, the gold medal winner in the individual 400 meters at the 1996 and 2000 Summer Olympics. Johnson also holds the world record at 400 meters with a time of 43.18s. Hart also recruited and coached Jeremy Wariner and Darold Williamson at Baylor, before Wariner won the 400 meter individual at the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens, Greece followed by a 4x400 relay win by a team featuring both Wariner and Williamson at that same Olympics.

Another of his pupils, Greg Haughton, won bronze at the 2000 Summer Olympics in Sydney.

Hart was a state champion miler at Hot Springs, Arkansas. Hart graduated from Baylor University in 1956.
