[edit] History
ClubSi was originally founded by Danielle "The Princess" as the Yahoo! group entitled civicsi99 in March 15, 1999. The following August it grew in popularity and moved to the domain URL ClubSi.com, where it has grown from a modest membership of about 1,000 into its present status as one of the 100 largest internet communities with a membership of over 50,000.
[edit] Culture
The website was originally started as a community for owners of the 1999-2000 Honda Civic Si to exchange information, improve the performance, and share pictures of their modified cars. It has experienced a paradigm shift as the years have passed, away from the focusing on the 99-00 Si due to the high theft rate, low production numbers, and high accident rate of the vehicles. There is now a more cosmopolitan feel to the car culture and a less precise focus to the discussions that occur on the website.
Meets are held across the country on a semi-regular basis. California hosts the annual "North meets South" meet that usually attracts hundreds of members from San Diego, Los Angeles, and San Francisco. On a semi-annual basis there is also a national ClubSi event that can attract members from all corners of the United States, Canada and Mexico.
