Club Semesters
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Club Semesters was a nightclub in Ithaca, New York. Between 1999 and 2002, the club carried the official name of The State Street Music Hall, but was still called "Club Semesters" by locals, as they chose to keep the sign above the door.
Club Semesters opened in the fall of 1992 as the newest nightclub to cater to the populations of nearby Ithaca College and Cornell University. Popular DJs at the time included talent brought in from New York City, including hardcore techno DJ Dopey and club/hip-hop/house DJ Vinny Marrero (the latter now a remixer/DJ with TC Music.
The club quickly became Ithaca's top nightclub within weeks of opening for its "big city" atmosphere and DJ talent.
Over the summer of 1993, the club underwent extensive renovations in the dance floor area. The walls and ceiling were painted flat black with black-lighted displays, the drop-ceiling was removed, and the former DJ stage became a dance stage, the DJ booth relocated to the upper left area. Club Semesters stayed in this configuration for the remainder of its life.
The club always closed during the summer, but it closed for the last time after the I.C. and Cornell classes of 2002 graduated. The site is now home to a Laser X-Treme course.
