Platense is a Honduran soccer club that's based in Puerto Cortes, Honduras. This team holds The Great Honor to have conquered the first title of the Honduran National League in (1965). For the first championship the board of directors found themselves with many limitations. Primarily they lacked the economic resources for logistics, payment of players and technical body; that is why, the board had to conform for the most part, a team of volunteer players. These football lovers, participated in the first championship genuinely for the love of the institution.-While at same time, they obtained their primary source of income working outside de football fields. Even with all these constraints, the coach: Carlos Padilla Velasquez was able to adapt to the situation of the football club, and to assemble a team rich in individual talent; but compact or homogeneous in its to drive to succeed. Among the members of that first famous staff, which won the first championship, were: Gilberto Zavala, Tomas Maximo, Ricardo 'Cañon' Fúnez, Felix 'Mantequilla' Guerra, Raúl Betancourt, 'Kubala' Díaz, 'El Chino' Hernandez, 'Pichingo' Crosdaile, Francisco Brocatto, "Care" Alvarado, Chita Arzú, among others.

After having obtained the first championship of National League, Club Deportivo Platense, had to wait 36 years to win its second championship. The new format of short tournaments (opening – closure) disputed through semifinals, allowed Platense to dispute the championship; even though it finished second on the final standings. The title was to be fighted out, in a series of two games against the most popular team of the country: Club Deportivo Olimpia. The first game disputed in Puerto Cortes, finished with triumph for the 'Tiburón' by scoreboard of 1-0; with goal netted by the Argentine Marcelo Verón. The return game, was won by Club Olimpia by the same scoreboard.- This forced the teams to go to over-time. The champion would be the team that scored the first goal (Golden Goal). It was this way, how, with goal of Rony Morales, Club Platense conquered its second championship of National League; to win the global series by scoreboard of 2-1
