Talk:Cloud base
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
So why is there a layer of clear air between the surface and the cloud base? Is it something to do with turbulence? Annihilatenow 10:51, 3 May 2006 (UTC)
- Because the air below the cloud is not saturated: it does contain water vapor, but the concentration of the latter is not sufficient to force the agglomeration of vapor into water droplets. See dew point or saturation vapor pressure, for instance, as well as cloud for more information. --Michel M Verstraete 09:34, 21 May 2006 (UTC).
