Cloppenburg is a town in Lower Saxony, Germany, capital of Cloppenburg District. It lies some 38 km south-south-west of Oldenburg in the Weser-Ems region between Bremen and the Dutch border. The town has a population of around 31,500 and is a centre for the largely agricultural region of southern Oldenburg.
One of Cloppenburg's main tourist attractions is the Museumsdorf Cloppenburg, a recreation of a medieval village, featuring reconstructed buildings typical of the years 800 to 1800.
