CloneCD is a proprietary optical disc authoring software that makes copies of music and data CDs regardless of any copy protection measures. It was originally offered by the company Elaborate Bytes. Since this was a Swiss site, they were forced to take it off the market due to recent European Copyright Laws. The software is now being sold by SlySoft, a company located in Antigua whose legislation does not currently endorse DMCA.

The software creates an exact duplicate of a disk including the copy protection of the disk, allowing you to copy game disks and make the Software think it is the original disk. The program has CD burning built-in, not requiring any other program, unlike many other programs of this nature.

Perhaps it is a mark of this software's popularity and effectiveness in defeating copy prevention schemes that versions of it are blacklisted by certain software manufacturers. The file type generally used by this application has the extension .ccd. The .ccd extension can be mounted with Virtual Drives such as Daemon Tools, Alcohol 120% and Virtual CloneDrive.
