Cliviger

Cliviger is a small village in Lancashire, England. It is situated near the towns of Burnley, Padiham and Todmorden. It is one of the civil parishes in Burnley. It was the home of legendary Burnley goalkeeper Jerry Dawson. It is the second biggest parish in England, and is currently represented by Michael Tattersall and David Hegginbotham on Burnley Borough Council, both of whom are affiliated with the Conservative Party.

The Parish is made up of 5 enumeration districts of Mereclough, Overtown, Walk Mill, Southward Bottom and Holme Chapel. The latter being regarded as the village centre, with a Primary School (St. John's) and the village hall.

Cliviger was originally founded to house the coal miners of the 19th century. The village is on one of the major trnsport links between Lancashire and Yorkshire, and also had a major railway station until a major accident closed the station in 1909. Now a days, it is mainly used as a commuter village for people working in Burnley.
