Clive Gillinson

Sir Clive Gillinson (born 7 March 1946, Bangalore, India) is a British musician and music manager. He has been executive and artistic director of Carnegie Hall, New York, since July 2005. For 14 years, he was, from 1970, previously a cellist in, and was also (in 1976) elected a director of the self-governing London Symphony Orchestra (LSO). He then became the long-serving and successful managing director of the orchestra (1984-2005).
Educated at Frensham Heights School, London University and the Royal College of Music, he is the son of another professional cellist. He was awarded a CBE in 1999 and a knighthood in 2005.
