Client cult

A client cult is a term used in sociology of religion for religions which model themselves on, and use practices resembling or inspired by, clinical psychology, psychotherapy, psychoanalysis and psychiatry. They may also be known as therapy cults.
Examples of groups which have been labeled client cults include the Church of Scientology and the early stages of the Process Church of the Final Judgment.
