- Cleveland County, Arkansas: named for Stephen Grover Cleveland, the twenty-second and twenty-fourth president of the United States.
- Cleveland County, North Carolina: named for Benjamin Cleveland, a colonel in the Battle of King's Mountain in the American Revolutionary War.
