Cleavant Derricks (songwriter)

Cleavant Derricks is a gospel songwriter with over 300 songs to his credit, and should not be confused with his son, the film and theater actor, Cleavant Derricks.
Reverend Cleavant Derricks (May 13, 1910, Chattanooga, Tennessee - 1977) was a pastor and choir director at a number of black Baptist churches.
As a songwriter, some of his songs include Just a Little Talk With Jesus, When He Blessed My Soul, We'll Soon Be Done With Troubles and Trials, and When God Dipped His Love in My Heart. He was inducted into the Gospel Music Hall of Fame in 2001. He is the father of twin actor sons Cleavant Derricks and Clinton Derricks-Carroll
