Claude Harrison became the 44th mayor of Victoria, British Columbia (1951–1955) after serving as the city's prosecutor for 40 years. He was 64 years old when he was elected. Quite an interesting individual, he used to walk around town in a cloak and was once hit on the head with a poker by an accused man.
