[edit] Background
Claude is the eldest son of Ronixis J. Kenni. After Ronixis helped win the war against Resonia, and further thwarted the plans of the dictator Jie Revorse, he had a son with Iria. He was later promoted to Admiral.
Claude rarely got to spend time with his father, due to his job as captain of the Starship Calnus, which kept him exploring space for months at a time. Also, due to his father's celebrity status and rank, he was often times cast in the shadow of his father, expected to be like him in every way. Because of this, Claude mildly resents his father. Nevertheless, he jumps at the chance to join his crew on the Calnus.
[edit] Star Ocean: The Second Story
During his first mission aboard the Calnus as an ensign, Claude is blasted to and stranded on Planet Expel after disobeying his father during a recon mission on Planet Milocinia. In the ruined dome sitting atop Milocinia's surface lies a malfunctioning gateway. Upon approaching it, Claude is sucked in and sent shooting through space right before Ronixis's eyes. He finds himself in the Shingo Forest, stranded upon an undeveloped planet. He spots a blue-haired girl being assaulted by an ape demon, and slays the beast using the Phase Gun his father gave him on Milocinia.
Upon seeing the blast emitted from this foreign technology, the girl is frightened and runs. Claude catches up and she applogizes, introducing herself as Rena Lanford. Rena believes that Claude is the Warrior of Light of the legend due to the Phase Gun and outlandish clothing and brings him to her village, Arlia.
