Class Clowns

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

A class clown is a student who has a reputation for making comedic or disruptive remarks in the classroom.

Class Clowns is also an annual search for Australia's funniest highschool student. This competition runs as part of the Melbourne International Comedy Festival, and is one of the major events of the festival.

Heats, semi finals and then finals are run in each Australian state and territory, with the winners of the state finals competing in the Grand Final in Melbourne. The Grand Final is held in the Melbourne Town Hall in front of an average of 1500 people. Traditionally comedian Raymond J Bartholemuez has hosted the grand final and special guest comedians perform a headline set (in previous years comedians such as Peter Helliar, Tripod, Ross Noble, Judith Lucy have performed).

Notable comedians who have performed as entrants in Class Clowns include Danny McGinlay, Mia Timpano, Michael Connell, Tully, Paul Jones and Imaan Hadchitti.
