Clapton F.C.
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Clapton F.C. are an English association football club, who play in Forest Gate, east London (although they were originally from Clapton, which is several miles to the west).
Clapton joined the Isthmian League upon its establishment. Champions twice in the early years, they spent many years in the lower reaches of the league since WWII. In the 2005/06 season they played in the Second Division, but lost their place with the 2006 re-structuring of the non-league set-up. They will play in the Essex Senior League in 2006/07.
Clapton should not be confused with Clapton Orient, which was the former name of Leyton Orient, between 1888 and 1946.
