CJIL better known as The Miracle Channel is a Canadian Christian television station. The station is headquartered in Lethbridge, Alberta and was founded by Dr. Dick and Joan Dewert. The CRTC granted it a license on April 4, 1995, making it the first religious television station in Canadian history. It debuted on January 14, 1996 broadcasting in southern Alberta and expanded nationally on September 11, 2000. The station is now available globally via satellite, such as the free-to-air Intelsat Americas 5, and on the web.
[edit] Opposition
An independent group not associated with the TV channel, the Miracle Channel Review, is an organization that was created for the purpose of objectively examining the teachings and teachers of shows that are aired by the Miracle Channel or CJIL TV, as well as the channel's founders. The group claims to review strictly from a Christian biblical perspective, using hermeneutics whenever possible, as well as assisting in educating anyone who is conducting research in religious studies or generally interested in current trends and movements in Christianity. Their methods have at times been perceived as unprovoked attacks on the ministry.
