City Tower (formerly known as the Sunley Building) is an office tower block located in the city of Manchester, United Kingdom . It is currently the third tallest building in Manchester, with a height of 118.0 m, and contains 30 floors. City tower was build in 1965.
It is located within the Piccadilly Plaza complex, with entrances onto York St, and faces the Piccadilly Gardens.
Over the years, the tower became increasingly run down and as a result many tenants left. A refurbishment programme was drawn up in the late 1990s, but this was never realised until property company Bruntwood purchased Piccadilly Plaza for £65 million in 2004. This plan has now been completed, and the tower has been fully re-clad and refurbished.
The tower has a number of broadcasting antennas on its roof, including that of XFM and Galaxy Radio on FM and digital radio multiplexes Digital One, BBC, MXR North West and CE Manchester.
