CityMedia Group

CityMedia Group (soon to be Metroland Media Group - West Division) is a subsidiary of Toronto-based Torstar Corporation. It is comprised of three daily newspapers, 10 weekly newspapers, 18 specialty publications, an annual directory, and three printing operations.[1]

[edit] Daily newspapers
CityMedia's largest daily is The Hamilton Spectator, which has the 14th largest circulation of a daily newspaper in Canada. It sells 104,000 copies Monday through Friday, and 119,000 copies on Saturday. The Record, serving the cities of Kitchener, Waterloo, and Cambridge, has a circulation of 65,000 copies daily and 76,000 copies on Saturday. The Guelph Mercury has daily circulation of 14,400 copies Monday through Saturday.[2]
[edit] Weekly newspapers
There are 10 weekly publications in the CityMedia Group, split between the Fairway Group and Hamilton Community News. Fairway publishes the Waterloo Chronicle, the New Hamburg Independent, the twice a week Guelph Tribune and the three-times a week Cambridge Times. Its sister division, Hamilton Community News, publishes Ancaster News, Dundas Star News, Mountain News, Stoney Creek News, and the Grand River Sachem. The group was known as Brabant Newspapers until 2006.[3]
These publications are primarily distributed free of charge, with approximately 300,000 copies a week circulated in the Hamilton area and 117,000 copies in the Waterloo, Cambridge, Guelph and New Hamburg areas.[4] The group publisher is Rob Leuschner.

Torstar will merge the CityMedia Group with its Metroland Division and rename it Metroland Media Group. 5
