Category talk:Cities of Antiquity
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
I created this category and began populating with reference to an external list of the major cities of antiquity after encountering some articles such as Ur which were uncategorized along this axis. I guess I didn't assay very well, because I soon tripped over many related categories.
- ancient peoples
- destroyed cities
- ancient greek cities
I also see than many cities are disambiguated (ancient city) so this category would more consistently be named ancient cities. I intended this category to function as prominent cities of antiquity which corresponds to some degree with the category metropolis applied to modern cities.
I'm going to leave it for a day and rethink this. I might decide to back it out as a misguided initiative. I meant this as a category that would appeal to urbanologists wishing to survey the most prominent prototypes as there is presently no simple way to traverse this axis without reference to an external list.
