I am currently studying Bachelor of Architecture at the University Of New South Wales, Sydney, Australia. I am considering transferring into a dual-degree of Engineering and Science next year, but nothing has been decided. This is my first year at university and I am 18 years old. I'm originally from the Gold Coast, in Queensland and I am fiercely loyal to my state and the sports team I support. I previously studied at Somerset College from Grades 2 to 12 and I still hold a lot pride for my school.
I support the Brisbane Lions and the Queensland Maroons on a interstate level. On a national level, I support the Socceroos and the Wallabies. On top of AFL, Rugby League, Soccer and Rugby Union - I also follow tennis, though Aussie Rules and tennis account for most of my sporting loyalty.
My passions include: reading classic literature, comics (Writhe and Shine, Calvin and Hobbes, Hagar, Garfield, Non Sequitur, Insanity Streak) and novels, writing poetry and editorials, photography, science, deviantART, film noir, some Japanese anime (Fruits Basket, Inuyasha, Kenshin, Saiyuki and One Piece), television (sitcoms, Law & Order, travel shows, documentaries, Hotel Babylon, Prison Break and Firefly), Einstein's work, the String Theory, music (Power Metal, Jazz, Alternative, Neofolk, Gothic Rock, Death Rock, Indie, Classical, Progressive Rock, Instrumental, Darkwave, Film Soundtracks), philosophy, collecting movie tickets, Disney, wind chimes and dream catchers, joga bonito, camping, outdoors sports, sailing, MuggleNet, playing the piano, watching movies (particularly animation), flying and politics.
I enjoy the simple life and the company of family and close friends. I like to ponder over unanswerable questions about the universe and the human condition. I love Queensland and I'm highly disappointed that I am stuck in New South Wales until the end of my degree, though living at college is really enjoyable and I love the company.
I dislike fashion, materialism, superficiality and trends.
My favourite flower is the sunflower.

My condolences go out to the Irwin family and the staff at Aussie Zoo.
It's not like many of us knew him personally or knew him as anything else other than 'Steve Irwin: The Crocodile Hunter', but he was a great Aussie Icon and a fair dinkum ambassador for our country. He put Queensland and more importantly - the Sunshine Coast on the map of the world and people from all over the globe wanted to see him live in action. I remember talking to some kids in America a couple of years back and the first thing they said was: 'The Croc Hunter is awesome!' To think such a simple, nature-loving, animal-living man impacted society in such a significant way is overwhelming.
His death is still very surreal at the moment. I'm really, genuinely sad, but also somewhat disbelieving. I think we all expect him to suddenly pop back to life with his catchphrase 'Crikey! Isn't she a beauty!'
He won't be forgotten. In fact, I think he will become somewhat of a historical figure. But the fact is that he's gone and he won't be putting on any more spectacular shows - ever again. That is a really sad notion. He was a key figure in the Australian tourism industry and he knew how to reach the audience - young or old. In some ways, I always respected him. He lived his dream, no matter how dangerous it was. He had fun and he caught the world's attention in doing so.
You will always live on in our memories, Steve. Rest in peace.
On a side note, Andre Agassi has retired after 21 years of amazing tennis. Thanks for being such a passionate and composed sportsman. I hope that current budding young players will take some of your great sportsmanship and put it to practise.
