[edit] Background
Cindy is a waitress at J's Bar in Raccoon City. Cindy is described as having a cheery spirit, cheerful attitude and bright smile. She will always try to put other people's interests before her own. Even in the most extreme situations, Cindy strives to keep that "can-do" attitude, which is necessary in her line of work. Cindy was searching for a new job due to a certain incident before the Raccoon City T-virus outbreak.
As the waitress in J's Bar, she seems to be an acquaintance of every other character as all of them have visited that place at least once. Kevin seems to go there often and the two seem to get along.
Her SP items and reactions to situations portray Cindy as unapologetically girly and nice, fond of collecting stuffed animals, buying clothes, trying new beauty treatments, and gardening. She never curses or uses a term stronger than "meanie." If anything, she actually comes off as rather vapid, but her endings show that she's rapidly becoming accustomed to the realities of her situation. Her optimism remains undiminished by the outbreak itself.
[edit] Items
Herb Case: Cindy can store numerous herbs in this handy case. To operate the Herb Case, select Cindy's personal item to display the contents of the Herb Case. The case comes loaded with two Red Herbs, two Green Herbs, and two Blue Herbs. This container holds a max of three of each type. The herbs can be mixed together as long as there is one open slot remaining in the case. The Herb Case also contains four extra item slots, but only for herbs. When collecting individual herbs form the environment, select the Herb Case and the item moves directly into the case, provided there is room in the case. To move a herb or herb compound from the Herb Case to a normal inventory slot, open Cindy's case and choose the herb or mixed herb in her case, then select the "Take Out" command. Cindy can also treat others with the herbs in her case, applying healing directly to the afflicted person. To treat other characters, move within close range and face them, then choose a herb or Mixed Herb in the case, and select the "Aid" command. This supports her primary role as Team Healer and her motto "always try to put other people's interests before her own".
Bandage: In Outbreak File #2 Cindy is equipped with a bandage. Possession of this item prevents the owner from suffering Bleeding status after an enemy attack. Additionally, carrying a fellow player character or AIPC who is afflicted with Bleeding status while possessing the Bandage cures that other person of Bleeding status as well. They may have gotten the idea for the Bandage from when she help a firefighter at the end of the first Outbreak.
[edit] Special Actions
Duck: Cindy can duck under an enemy's reach or avoid claw swipes and bites. Cindy can use this move to dodge an attack and then come back with an immediate counter attack, or she can use the opportunity to run away. In the hands of an experienced player, Cindy's duck can be used to avoid 1-hit-kills and absorption attacks. In File #2, this movement was improved so that characters Cindy might be holding would imitate the duck once she makes it.
Aid: Cindy has the ability to heal other characters rather than herself. While selecting an herb within her herb case, a special command will appear called aid which she can use to heal a player that is near her. A new feature added into Resident Evil Outbreak File 2 is an ability to aid an injured player while she is shouldering them up. This does not, however, work on NPC characters such as Linda in the End of the Road scenario.
[edit] Character Analysis
Cindy is probably the best supporting character of the team, not only being able to carry a lot more herbs than the rest of the characters, but also for her unique ability to use her own medicine for other characters, even capable of Healing more than one character at once. Not to mention that, as an AIPC, she tends to replace weapons with healing items, making her an ideal partner.
She also has decent speed and one of the slowest infection rates, but her weaknesses are her strength and vitality. Cindy’s attacks, unequipped or with melee weapons, are very weak, and fire weapons don’t work as well for her as they do with Mark or Kevin. She also can get seriously damaged very easily, for which it is important to learn how to use her Duck ability, which can prove to be very useful once it’s mastered. (Although with her herb supplies and her Bandage preventing her of suffering Bleeding status, this is not a serious weakness)
Cindy is a very good character to play with, but not very independent, for which it would be wise to pair her with fighting characters as Kevin, Mark or David to act as a supporting character, leaving the stronger weapons to those more suited to this role.
[edit] Costumes
Cindy has various outfits which include:
- Cindy:A Waitress Uniform (Default)
Cindy wears a white and light gray striped button-up shirt with a collar and bowtie, a blue-gray vest and nametag, a dark gray shirt, and high heels. She wears her hair in a high ponytail and on her right hand she wears a bracelet, while on her left she wears a watch.
- Cindy:B On Vacation
SP Items: Light Blue Shirt, Cool Sunglasses, Sandals, White Pants. Cindy wears a light blue dress shirt, white capri pants, and a pair of high-heeled sandals, with a pair of sunglasses hooked through the front of the shirt.
- Cindy:C Funny Bunny
SP Items: Bunny Cuffs, Bunny Bow tie, Fishnet Tights, Sexy Lipstick, Bunny Ears, High Heels, Bunny Costume. This outfit seems to be inspired by Playboy bunnies. Cindy wears a set of rabbit ears, fishnet stockings, high-heeled shoes, tuxedo cuffs, and a black one-piece swimsuit with a cotton tuft at the small of her back.
- Cindy:D Diving Suit
Finding the necessary items will convince Cindy to try a wilder look, albeit one that's very practical for her situation. She dons a leather catsuit with a broad belt and short-heeled boots, while letting her hair down and layering it a bit with the aid of some hairspray. The outfit seems reminiscent of Uma Thurman's in The Avengers, while her hairstyle resembles Thurman's in the second Kill Bill.
- Cindy:E Coquette
This is one of the bikini costumes that's unlocked by defeating the "Showdown" bonus scenarios in File #2, specifically Showdown 2. Cindy wears a white halter top, a pair of very brief cutoffs, and short-heeled flats.
[edit] Fate
There are several endings to the game. Since most Resident Evil games count the good endings, it is safe to assume that it is the same case here and that Cindy survived.
Decisions, decisions
Escaping With Daylight: The best ending in File #1: Cindy is cured of the T-Virus, escaping Raccoon City with Daylight shortly before the government's bombing run. She says to herself while tending to one of the firemen in the escape chopper that even though she needs to find a new job, there's a lot she can do.
Escaping Without Daylight: Though she is cured of the T-Virus, Cindy is unable to recover a sample of the vaccine before the city is destroyed.
Cindy lives and got out of Racoon city without dying.
No Escape: The serum was never found, and Cindy and George remain in front of the University. They talk to each other, then hold hands and watch as the missiles approach.
End of the Road
Run Like The Linda/Up and Away With Linda: Cindy watches Raccoon City burn from a few miles outside the city limits. She thinks to herself that she's become a stronger person by living through the outbreak, even if it'll haunt her dreams. Soon afterwards, she decides to "start something new," and buys a house somewhere.
[edit] Trivia
- Cindy is the only character who can access her locker in the "Outbreak" scenario. Thus, she is the only one who can obtain the items within.
- Cindy can receive a submachine gun (or burst handgun on harder difficulties) from the dying guard on the roof of the hospital during "The Hive" scenario. While disoriented he mistakes Cindy for his significant other, Maggie.
- If Cindy is not a PC or AIPC during the "Wild Things" scenario in File #2, she will be killed when the Titan demolishes the zoo's back entrance. Lying around her are two recovery items, as if dropped from her herb case, and/or her Bandage accessory.
- Cindy is the only character who can find the Herb Pie Recipe file during "Wild Things." It's behind the counter in the Elephant Restaurant.
- Unlike the others, Cindy usually admits that she is scared, mostly while being near danger.
