Church of Jesus Christ, the Bride, the Lamb's Wife

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Church of Jesus Christ, the Bride, the Lamb's Wife was a denomination of the Latter Day Saint movement, which drew its membership primarily from members who had dissented from the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints when it was headquartered in Far West, Missouri in 1838.

The church was organized on June 24, 1840 under the direction of George M. Hinkle and it held its first conference in the town of Moscow in the Iowa Territory on November 20, 1842.

The Popular Church teaching may be completely wrong...

The church is often referred to as "the bride of christ," although the scriptures indicate this interpretation may not be entirely accurate. The Bible itself notes in Revelation 21:1-2 (ASV)

1 And I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth are passed away; and the sea is no more. 2 And I saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven of God, made ready as a bride adorned for her husband.

This same passage then goes on to describe one of the angels who shows the bride of Christ (Rev 21:9) "...Come hither, I will show thee the bride, the wife of the Lamb." The rest of the passage is filled with references to what Christianity often calls "heaven" or "New Jerusalem"--, the place with pearly gates, foundations of precious stones, and streets of gold. Reading the passage carefully, it is obvious that this "bride" of the lamb comes down from heaven as New Jerusalem (v.11 "...carried me away in the Spirit to a mountain great and high, and showed me the holy city Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God.")
