Church of God (Columbus GA)

The Church of God (Columbus, GA) is a Christian fellowship where the only test of fellowship is a life free from sin. The doctrines of the church are those that are supported by the Holy Scripture. The ministery does not add to or take away from the word of God. The Church believes that the Bible alone is the rule of Faith. The congregation does not report to a higher authority other than to Jesus Christ, the Word of God. The ministry believes that major doctrines must be proven by a minimum of two scriptures, as Jesus said, "Let Everything be established by the mouth of two or three witnesses. The beliefs are anti-sectiarian. The church believes in unity of Holiness, a sin free life, and true bible sanctification. The congregation believes that the evidence of the Holy Ghost is a sin-free life.

Elder Marice Burton is the current pastor of this particular congregation. Brother Burton believes has led a pure life from the time of his conversion. He is a true example of a believer. Holy and without fault before God, the Church of God, and the world. His household is in order. He is the husband of one wife. He is a true Bishop of this church of God.

The congregation is not part of any group other than the fellowship of all of the Saved, who are holy, without fault. Since the Church of God does not believe in numbering Gods people, we do not have a official Church website for our particular sect, as it were.

We believe that in the Evening Light,cica.1880 that God restored full light unto the church of God. The only light that was not shown forth was future prophesy of the 7th Seal. We believe that a silence occured as a result of the Anderson Church of God's fall into unbelief and apostasy. This fall was very similar to the fall of the Roman Catholic Church of God in the 270 A.D. This was a result of unbelief in the Word of God. As a result the scripture states, "all ten virgins slumbered and slept". We also believe that God has been shaking the people of God and will continue to shake the church of God as a part of this endtime operation. God is going to shake the world once more thru a true body of ministers who are gifted with gifts from God. This ministery will not preach anyother doctrine or standard than what is approved by the Head of the Church, The Word of God. This is a divine organization without any man made rules, organization. or guidance. The Holy Ghost runs the Church of God. Unlike other organizations where a "ministerial" body runs the Church. This church believes that Jesus is actually the head.

They have no formal membership. They teach that every person that is a true Christian is a member, though this claim is also made by other unaffiliated Christian groups.

Some of their main doctrines and teachings include:

  • The Church of God is the Church that Jesus built and dates back to the early Apostles in the New Testament
  • Salvation from sin
  • Sanctification or Baptism of the Holy Ghost
  • Unification of the children of God in one body
  • All the children of God, wherever they attend, are part of the Body of Christ
  • Divine, physical healing and anointing with oil by the Elders.
  • Separation from the world by dress and actions.
  • Worship with or without musical instruments.
  • Outreach and missionary endeavors.
  • No discrimination based on race, language, culture, or any such thing.
  • Pacifism, precluding all military involvement.
