Chuck LaMar

Charles M. "Chuck" LaMar was the first General Manager of the Tampa Bay Devil Rays franchise in Major League Baseball, being hired July 19th, 1995 -- several months after the Tampa Bay franchise was awarded. He had previously served as assistant general manager in the Atlanta Braves organization under John Schuerholz.
During the 8 seasons that LaMar oversaw the Devil Rays franchise, the team compiled a 518-777 record and only once won more than 70 games (2004).
LaMar was fired on October 6th, 2005 by incoming owner Stuart Sternberg in a large franchise shakeup.
LaMar has a son and two daughters.
