From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

CHSTV is the student run television station of Carlsbad High School in Carlsbad, California. All broadcasts are completely run, edited and performed by students and although this leads to the occasional blooper, overall their quality is extremely high for a student television station.

At the end of its first year on the air, CHSTV won four prestigious National Student Television Awards from the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences. In June 2003, four CHSTV students were flown to Washington, D.C. to accept the awards.

After its second year of broadcasting it won two additional National Student Television Awards (Regional Winners), the iVIE Grand Recognition Award, and the San Diego County Fair's Best of Show Award.

2004 is CHSTV's 3rd year on the air. Adelphia carries it live every morning at 9:25 PST to subscribers to Adelphia cable. It's also possible to see each broadcast online, at their official website, both live at 9:25 and through the archive whenever.

CHSTV has interviewed several celebrities, such as Robin Williams, Katie Couric, Tom Hanks, Ryan Stiles, Larry King, and Jason Alexander. CHSTV has also been included in an article in the November 25, 2002 edition of Newsweek.

In early 2006 three CHSTV students won emmies. CHSTV also won the IVIE award for high school journalism. Most CHSTV students start their journalism careers in middle school at VMSTV.
