Chris "The Drumulator" Olds Drummer For Hire A drummer first and foremost, though he's worked at such prestigious institutions as The Jet Propulsion Lab as a computer technician and a field engineer for The Network Technology Development Group. This group gained fame for the first Gigabit transmission to/from a spacecraft.
Chris currently owns/operates an Internet and Technology Company, and is constantly developing creative ideas under the Publishing Company Title...XCeptional Media, (formerly XCeptional Music). Musical BIOGRAPHY:
Chris Olds began his musical life at the age of 11 with his first drumset, he's studied Drums and Percussion extensively ever since. Chris began his professional career with "The San Fernando Valley Jazz Ensemble" when he was just 17 years old. He then travelled to the South where he began gigging in clubs at the age of 19. Lured to Colorado a couple of years later, he did some shows with some local musicians...known as "The Front". Then it was back to So Cal for Chris, where by 1986 he hooked up with his first "World Class" Band...Robert Lusson and Live Nude Girls "Loose On The World", on Artistic Records.
Lisa Faye ~ Jr. Billionaire was the next Record Chris recorded in the late 80's, after that it was a new record with the very lovely and talented Astra Li, at Riff Raff Studios in LA, followed up very quickly by a stint with some friends and very cool dudes including 1000 Mona Lisa's very own Armando Prado..."The Citimen". They recorded their own EP and gigged around LA in 1989/90. After this Chris was on to other things... and The Charlie Chan Blues Band picked him up for some dates around LA in the Early 1990's, Astra Li did quite a few dates around LA at this time as well, playing at The Sidewalk Cafe in Venice, or on the Sunset Strip, this band had a hot groove, as Astra Li is a born entertainer!
In early 1993 Chris moved to Flagstaff Az., now in his early 30's The Drumulator began playing first with ~ World Beat Music & Dance Ensemble, this group toured the Southwest for a short time with a group of earthy people that embodies a special time in Chris' life...he begins to spread his wings and become the percussion artist that you see today.
Charley Fillmore and the Flipouts ~ 1994-95, Chris did a record with Charley, featuring Cage Boudin on Guitar and vapors...and Wild Billy Kneebone on Bass(of all things) in 1994, and did several shows in and around Flagstaff Arizona. Each Other's Legend 1995-96 Flagstaff and Phoenix, this crew saddled up and did some dates in Colorado too. Chris moved down to Tucson Az., and did several CD's at Third Planet Studios where he worked as a studio musician, and second engineer. Rites of RURU was recorded at this time in 1996, as well as a Cool very nicely recorded album called Predilection, with a singer songwriter named Elly Wolfe, at Third Planet Studios.
Then...It was back to LA for his first solo album The Road Never Ends ~ Radiant Souls followed up closely in 1999 by Kid Millennium (and his celestial band) ~ A Rock Opera.
Right around this time The Drumulator joined a Band Called the CEO's...this group never quite managed to finish the recordings and pump out an actual record, but the recordings can be found. CEO's ~ Love Stains
In the year 2000...Chris left LA, and moved to the Pacific Northwest. In October 2000 at a jam session at The Venetian Theatre in Albany Oregon, Chris met Renee Hill for the first time, The Renee Hill Band was complete...and in February 2001 they began gigging around Central Oregon.
Chris Olds has been drumming with his own project/s in the Willamette Valley Oregon since 2001, first with Spontaneous Combustion, which finally went *poof* into a cloud of smokey memories in early 2004 after releasing one CD ~ Music 4 Sex (A Random Incident) followed up with a couple of mind numbing years at the helm of Microcosm.
