[edit] History

  • Chronos began its operations in 1986 as a reseller of Oscillators and time and frequency standards, during the early days of the digital telecoms revolution.
  • In 1996 Chronos moved into their current premises, Stowfield House, in the Forest of Dean.
  • In 2001, Chronos were instrumental in forming the International Telecom Sync Forum, bringing together a group of industry experts to emulate (from a European perspective) the US Workshop on Sync in Telecommunication Systems (WSTS) held annually in Boulder, Colorado at NIST. The first ITSF workshop was held in March 2001 at The Royal Garden Hotel, Kensington, London. Although originally conceived as an annual event - the severe recession in the telecom sector meant that the 2002 and 2003 workshops were cancelled. ITSF has been resurrected in 2004 and was hosted by the Institute of Electrical Engineers at their Savoy Place HQ in London.
