Chrysler Australia

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Chrysler Australia is a wholly owned subsidiary of Chrysler Corporation. It has generally operated as an importer of motor vehicles sourced from the United States of America, but has also sourced vehicles from Japan. From 1962 up to 1981 Chrysler Australia initially imported and subsequently built the Chrysler Valiant and later the Valiant Charger.

Its manufacturing plant was sold to Mitsubishi Motors Australia Limited in the early 1980s, with Chrysler Australia not operating until the late 1990s.

It now imports Jeep, Chrysler and Dodge vehicles. Current vehicles are imported from the United States, Mexico, Germany, and Austria. The Chrysler 300C is fast becoming a success due to being a worthy direct competitor to the Holden Commodore and Ford Falcon, and essentially a true Chrysler Valiant replacement.
