The Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago (RIC) Chronic Pain Care Center is a nationally renowned center for the management of pain. The center, headed by Medical Director Steven P. Stanos, Jr., D.O., and Clinical Manager Melanie Swan, OTR/L, is an outpatient facility of RIC, located at 1030 N. Clark Street, in Chicago. As the cornerstone of The Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago's chronic pain management services, The Chronic Pain Care Center provides comprehensive services to help and support people whose functional abilities have been diminished due to chronic pain. Specialty services include medical assessment and oversight, physical and occupational therapy, aqua therapy, Feldenkrais, psychological counseling, biofeedback, therapeutic recreation, vocational rehabilitation and patient education. Treatment plans are designed to help patients develop lifelong pain management skills, manage the debilitating effects of pain, and recover their abilities to perform the activities of daily living.

Conditions treated at the Chronic Pain Care Center include neck and back pain, fibromyalgia, myofascial pain syndrome, neuropathic pain, complex regional pain syndrome (reflex sympathetic dystrophy), pain associated with rehabilitation diagnoses or chronic headache, and may other conditions resulting in chronic pain (pain lasting 6 months or longer). The Center has been reported on by major national publications including the Chicago Tribune, Web MD magazine, and Time magazine. The flagship program the center offers (it also offers other programs besides the flagship program) is a five day a week (eight hours per day), four week, intensive multidisciplinary program that includes medical assessment and oversight, physical and occupational therapy, aqua therapy, Feldenkrais, psychological counseling, biofeedback, therapeutic recreation, vocational rehabilitation and patient education. After an initial evaluation with one of the doctors, a determination is made with regards to one of the comprehensive pain management program.

With an astonishing success rate of over 70% (of patients minimizing their pain and/or returning to work), RIC's Chronic Pain Care Center continues to be a leader in the Pain Management field. The physicians on staff have many years of experience, publications, research, and educational background, and are constantly recognized by their peers. They are also on staff as Clinical Instructors or Professors at Northwestern University's Feinberg School of Medicine.
