[edit] General Information
ChroniX Radio (shown as ChroniX Radio, CXR or ChroniX Aggression) is a listener-supported, commercial free, rock/metal/alternative and Podcast compatible online radio station provided via Nullsoft SHOUTcast.
The radio service slogan is "Loud And Clear" and is run from Bailey, Colorado, USA.
The online service has been running since 1999. Users are required use the Nullsoft Winamp software to access the online radio service, which is free of charge, and offers a current bitrate quality of 128kbit/s. There is also a lower-bandwidth version of the service, broadcasting at 24Kbit/s, ideal for dial-up users and mobile access.
ChroniX Radio offers only the selected rock genres mentioned above and listeners may request tracks for play by signing in to the official website and browsing the playlist. On average it may take up to twenty minutes for the chosen song to be played, but this may vary on the current number of active listeners and requests that are pending.
ChroniX does not play advertisements on the service and relies on donations from listeners. There is also a merchandise store to help the service financially live.
[edit] ChroniX Metal
ChroniX Metal is a beta service that will offer a selection of heavier metal music than the previous alternative service, ChroniX Aggression. This is currently in beta testing, broadcasts at 128 kbit/s and is still under development.
