Christopher O'Kane (Cricky) was a suspected drug-dealer from Derry in Northern Ireland who was shot dead on his 37th birthday in April 2001 at his home in Milldale Crescent in the Currynieran estate of the city.
Despite police suspicions about his drug-dealing activities, he had no criminal records showing such.
On 18th September 2006 a PSNI detective Inspector Robbie Paul alleged in an inquest into the man's murder that the gun used to kill Christopher O'Kane belonged to the PIRA, and as such he stated that the IRA must have carried out the killing.
This accusation has not been commented on by the IRA.
Credibility of the PSNI detective may or may not be questionable due to the timing of the release of information 5 years after the murder but only 5 days after the St Andrews Agreement and the implications this has on the future role of the PSNI and their future control by the Northern Ireland Assembly including Sinn Fein and hense the IRA.
