Christopher Cabaldon

Christopher Cabaldon, born November 12, 1965, is an openly gay, Filipino-Americanmayor of West Sacramento, California and President/CEO of EdVoice, a Sacramento based education non-profit advocacy group. In his career he has developed a record of leadership experience in education as a policy expert, college executive, faculty member, and elected official.
Cabaldon has served as Vice Chancellor of the California Community Colleges, the largest system of higher education in the United States. For nearly a decade, Cabaldon was Chief Consultant to the Assembly Higher Education Committee and Chief of Staff to the Chair of the Assembly Appropriations Committee.
As Mayor of West Sacramento he has been leading community-based reform in the local urban school district. He serves on an array of state and regional commissions, and on the boards of several nonprofit organizations. He was founder and Chairman of the Board for the Asian Pacific Youth Leadership Project.
Cabaldon earned his BS in Environmental Economics at UC Berkeley, where he was student body vice president, and a Masters in Public Policy and Administration at California State University, Sacramento, where he has taught as an adjunct faculty member.
In 2006 Cabaldon was featured in a documentary by the LOGO network as part of their show Coming Out Stories. He is one of seven openly gay mayors in the US.
