Christophe Berra (born 31 January 1985, in Edinburgh) is a Scottish professional footballer currently playing for Heart of Midlothian. He is a central defender noted for his physical presence and aerial ability.
Berra joined Hearts in April 2002 from Hearts' youth development after previously having a spell at Edina Hibs. After impressive performances in the youth and U21 teams Berra made his debut in the 2003-2004 season. Since then Berra has been an important member of the first team squad and in season 2005-2006 scored the important second goal in a 2-0 victory against Kilmarnock[1] which was pivotal in the Tynecastle club's push towards UEFA Champions League qualification.
Berra has been capped by Scotland at different age levels up to U-21 level although, as his name suggests, he is still also eligible to play for France, through his father's French lineage.
In July 2006 Berra signed a five year deal with the Hearts.
