[edit] Plot

At Sandy's treedome, Sandy is putting up Christmas lights. SpongeBob mistakes it for a fire, and throws water onto it. Sandy asks him what he was doing, and SpongeBob replies he believed there was a fire.

Sandy tells SpongeBob about Christmas, and Spongebob in turn tells everyone else. Everyone puts their Christmas wish into a bottle, and each is then shot up to the surface so Santa can read it. Squidward does not believe in Santa, and does not write a message.

Santa, however, doesn't come. Everyone is confused and SpongeBob becomes depressed. He gives Squidward a present (a clarinet made out of driftwood with his name engraved on it, that pops out an animatronic band when a button is pushed), who feels sorry for SpongeBob. Squidward dresses up as Santa, and starts giving out his possessions to everybody. He receives a message from Santa telling him that he's been a "good boy".

• The picture of Santa Claus SpongeBob shows to Mr. Krabs, Patrick, and Squidward is the official Santa for Coca-Cola.
• The little girl's wish for front teeth is a reference on Tiny Tim's "All I Want for Christmas is My Two Front Teeth".

• This episode:
  • Despite being part of season 2, has not aired in the UK on Nickelodeon, but has been released on 'The Nicktoons Christmas' DVD.
  • Aired in the UK for the first time on December 21, 2005 on Nicktoons TV.
  • Is sometimes mistaken to be rated TV-Y7.
  • Features a reworked version of the main theme song.
• The wishes of some citizens are as follows:
  • SpongeBob wished for Santa to visit Bikini Bottom. Mr. Krabs wished for a pony with saddlebags full of money. Patrick wished for another piece of paper. A female fish wish for a new hairstyle. A kid fish wished for front teeth. An elderly fish wished for a glass of water for his teeth.
• Just like the other holiday specials, this episode only tends to air on TV in the United States on the holiday the episode takes place in.
• During the song, when Spongebob and Patrick decorate Squidward's house, and Squidward says to take it off immediately, SpongeBob's pineapple is not visible, even though it is right next to Squidward's house.
• During the December 04, 2006 showing of "Christmas Who", the closed caption text reads "Insert Sample Caption Text Here" during the beginning of the show.
• During the Christmas song, in the end, Mr.Krabs was only one who sang in a high-pitch.
• Patrick is star on the tree.
• When Squidward was under the mistletoe and ran, was either shy to get his first from a woman or he did not want SpongeBob nor Patrick to kiss him.
