Christian Steinmetz

Christian Steinmetz (June 28, 1882 – June 11, 1963) was an outstanding collegiate basketball player in the 1900s. The Milwaukee, Wisconsin native played three seasons at University of Wisconsin (1902-05). An offensive juggernaut, Steinmetz made up university records in most points in a single season (462), most points in a game (50), most field goals in a game (20), most free throws in a season (238), most free throws in a game (26) as well as best seasonal scoring average (25.7), and he still held them 50 years after graduating. In 1961 he was inducted to the Basketball Hall of Fame.
