Christian II, Elector of Saxony

Christian II (September 23, 1583 - June 23, 1611) was prince-elector of Saxony (Germany) from 1591 to his death (under tutorage until 1601). He was a member of the House of Wettin.
Born in Dresden, he was the son of Christian I of Saxony.
In the course of the event that eventually led to the Thirty Years' War, his refusal to step the union of Abhausen deepened the division between the Protestant German states.
Christian was married with Hedwig of Denmark. Since he died childless, his brother John George succeded him as Elector.
