Christabella

Christabella is a fictional character from the motion picture of Silent Hill. Her character does not appear in the video games, but she shares the same name with a character from the graphic novels. However, the two characters are not related in any way.
Christabella is the leader of a small group of cult refugees who have been trapped in Silent Hill for almost 30 years. She and the religious group take refuge in the prominent church building, situated in the very center of the town.
She is the character responsible for orchestrating Alessa Gillespie's "purification". She is then trapped in Silent Hill but it is clear that she supresses her own guilt of the deed, which enables her and her cult to survive Alessa's revenge. In the finale, when Rose proclaims that Christabella has been living a lie for 30 years - "God is not here" - Christabella and the Church become vulnerable to the darkness and, thus, are completely annihilated.
From what we know, Christabella is a teacher at the Midwich Elementary School for Girls or the headmistress. The walls of the school are decorated in out-of-place Bible quotations concerning Hell and judgment; a painting labelled 'God' portrays an image of a celestial female who bears resemblance to Christabella. These elements may suggest Christabella's power within the school and hints at her self-proclaimed righteousness.
Some analyists of the film believe Christabella and Dahlia Gillespie to be sisters, therefore making Christabella's last name Gillespie also. Christabella refers to Dahlia as "Dear Sister" when trying to persuade her to give Alessa up for the ritual clensing. It is unknown whether it was meant in a religious or sibling manner, although it should be noted that Christabella shows considerate affection towards Dahlia in order to get what she wants.
Whatever the true nature of Christabella's past is, she is generally regarded to be one of the strongest characters in the film with her portrayal of a witch huntress who genuinely believes that what she is doing is both for the good of Silent Hill and for Alessa herself.
