Chriselle of Furstán-Festil

In the fictional universe of the Deryni novels of Katherine Kurtz, Chriselle Furstána-Festila-Mór was the tenth Festillic Pretender, claiming the title of Queen of Gwynedd from 1050 to 1061. She was the second Festillic Pretender of the junior branch of the House of Furstán-Festil, and her claim to the throne of Gwynedd coincided with the legitimate reign of King Malcolm Haldane (1025-1074).

Chriselle Carola Carmina Furstána-Festila-Mór was born on July 5, 1010, the second daughter and third child of the Festillic Pretender Princess AriElinora and her husband, Graf Manuel von Spire. She was created Duchess of Truvorsk upon her marriage to Prince Zimri of Torenth in 1027, and later inherited the title of Duchess of Tolán upon her mother's death in 1050. Although she also inherited the Festillic claim to the throne of Gwynedd from her mother, she was never formally recognized as the legitimate Queen of Gwynedd and she did little to press her claim. Chriselle placed all of her royal hopes upon her son, Prince Marcus, but he died suddenly on October 26, 1060. Chriselle became increasingly melancholy after her son's death, and embarked upon a journey to the Holy Shrine of Saint Sava the following year. However, she fell ill while traveling and did not survive the journey. Princess Chriselle Furstána-Festila-Mór died on August 11, 1061, at the age of 51. She was succeeded as the Festillic Pretender by her grandson, Prince Hogan.
