Christopher (Chris) John Wilder, born Stocksbridge, 23 September 1967, is a former professional footballer, who has been manager at Halifax Town since 2002.
He started his career as a trainee at Southampton and was released without making it into the first team. He moved on to Sheffield United in August 1986 and during his career he played for 11 clubs, including a lon spell at Rotherham United before joining Halifax Town in 1999.
He took over the reins as manager in July 2002 replacing caretaker Neil Redfearn, who replaced Alan Little (who had left on April 8 after falling ill with appendicitis in March). Halifax were relegated to the Conference at the end of the season.
Wilder has now been in charge at The Shay for more than 200 games.
