Chris Rix
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Chris Rix (born May 1, 1981) is a former NCAA football quarterback for the Florida State Seminoles. Rix was the first four year starter at the school under coach Bobby Bowden.[1]
Rix graduated from Santa Margarita Catholic High School in 2000, the same high school as NFL Pro Bowl quarterback Carson Palmer.[2]
Rix had his most successful season in 2003 when he passed for 3,107 yards and 23 touchdowns. Rix missed the 2003 Sugar Bowl after he overslept and missed an exam, subsequently causing him to be suspended for the game. Despite a promising start, including being named the ACC freshman of the year, his overall career was disappointing when compared to the high standards of the 2 time National Champion FSU program. Rix finished with a 25-11 record as a starting quarterback and was benched several times during his senior year.[3]
After his career ended Rix became the founder and president of the Champion Training Academy LLC., an organization designed to train and coach young quarterbacks.[4] He also signed with College Sports TV, a division of CBS, in July of 2006 to work as an analyst during their coverage of college football games.[5]
Rix lost to the University of Miami five times during his career. He is the first quarterback to lose to the same team five times.
