Chris Morgan (politician)

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Chris Morgan was the Conservative mayor of North Tyneside, England, from his election in May 2002 until he resigned in April 2003.

He resigned after he was arrested on charges related to child pornography [1], which were later brought to trial and he was found 'not guilty' on all counts. [2]

He was the Borough's first ever directly-elected mayor.

A by-election was held to replace him - the winner was Linda Arkley. However in March 2005 North Tyneside Labour alleged that Morgan was still 'pulling the strings' on Arkley's proposed budget and Arkley lost the subsequent election. [3]
