Chris Melling

Chris Melling (born September 21, 1984) is a rugby league player for Super League club Harlequins Rugby League. Melling is a utility player, he can play in the full-back, wing, centre or hooking positions.
Melling played junior rugby league for Ashton Bears until aged 15 and Hindley from 16 upwards. He then signed up for Wigan Warriors under their apprenticeship scheme. He attended Byrchall High School.
He played in the Wigan Academy in 2002 and was rewarded with a call-up to the England Academy squad to face the Aussie Schoolboys in December that year. He played in the first test of a historic 2-0 series victory.
He spent 2003 playing for the Academy U21s who won the Academy Championship. He became captain of the Under 21s in 2004 and made his first team debut in Terry O'Connor's Testimonial match against London Broncos that same season. An injury crisis prompted his promotion into the first team sqaud for the competitive match against Salford in Super League round 2, where he figured from the bench. He made his first start against XIII Limouxin in the Powergen Challenge Cup, scoring 24 points from 10 goals and a try. Unfortunately, he suffered a serious knee injury and was ruled out for the rest of the 2004 season.
Melling signed for Quins RL in September 2006.
