Chris McCormack (triathlete)

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Chris McCormack is an Australian triathlete, known affectionately to the triathlon community as macca. McCormack began competing on international-distance courses in 1996, winning both the 1997 Triathlon World Championships and the 1997 ITU World Cup Series; to date, no-one else has won both titles in a single year.

More recently, McCormack has switched to racing the longer ironman triathlon format, winning Ironman Australia in 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005 and 2006 as well as the iron--distance race in Roth Germany. 2005 also saw his first "high" placed finish at the Hawaii Ironman, finishing 6th with the fastest run split of the day after having had a relatively poor swim and bike.
