Chris McCann (born 21 May 1987 in Dublin) is a promising young Irish footballer currently playing for Burnley football club. Brought over to Lancashire from the Irish club Home Farm, Chris progressed through the youth system at Burnley, and made his senior debut in the 2005-06 season, coming onto the pitch as an early substitute against Coventry City.
A tall and lean midfielder, possessing a deft left foot and powerful long shot, Chris is hoped to have a long and successful career in football, and has helped fill the void of losing previous youth favourite Richard Chaplow to West Brom. Having made a handful of substitute appearances and two starts at the time of writing, Chris has already scored his first senior goal in a 3-0 win against Ipswich Town, and his versatility combined with the small squad forced by lack of money at the club may well ensure his further development. He has now also scored in a 1-1 draw with Queens Park Rangers.
McCann started the 2006-07 season in the first team squad, but a run of unimpressive performances saw him reverting to the substitutes' bench after a few games as he seeks to confirm his potential at Championship level.
