From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Chris Foxx is a New York City party promoter and hip hop impresario who has served as host on over fifteen hip hop mixtapes and has worked in the recording industry for years most notably with the Harlem hip hop collective:The Diplomats. '"Chris Foxx"' is a celebrated figure in the field of artist development. He was involved in a swirl of controversy in early 2005 when he was involved in a bidding war between Warner Music Group and Def Jam South over his A&R services. Foxx is recognized as a founding member of the the southern hip hop conglomerate Tha GMC and Best Out Media. Since Spring 2006 media outlets have linked "Chris Foxx" to model/actress Sara Pickett though both have declined to address the rumors. The sightings of the pair around New York City continued, but both parties remain silent on the relationship. Sources say that the two may not be serious at all, while others cite Foxx's failed romance with actress Lauren London being the reason he is so protective of his relationship with Pickett. Despite his growing industry acceptance and respect, Foxx has not escaped the drama of beef that has plauged hip hop. In summer 2004 Young City from Hip Hop mogul Diddy's failed rap group Da Band felt that Foxx was responsible for allowing another rapper to "diss" him on his mixtape "504 Takeover". Rumor has it that there was a confrontation between the two at a music festival in New Orleans but no one from their respected camps denied nor verified the rumor. Foxx and Young City later made peace in the fall of 2005 and Young City was featured on Foxx's mixtape "Power Move". In addition to his party promotions and his mixtape hustle, Chris Foxx has also been empowering the hip hop community. Chris Foxx recently sat on a panel to discuss the state of hip hop in the Midwest and can be seen on an upcoming documentary discussing the Chicago hip hop scene past, present & future. According to his publicist Candice Smart, "'Chris Foxx"' is releasing the much anticipated mixtapes "Power Move 2: The New Season" and "Chairman of the Board" this winter.
