Christopher Vaughan Evans (born 14 May 1958), Australian politician, is a member of the Australian Senate for the state of Western Australia, representing the Australian Labor Party.
Evans was born in Cuckfield, United Kingdom. He was educated at the University of Western Australia, where he graduated in arts. He was an industrial officer with the Federated Miscellaneous Workers' Union 1982-1987 and State Secretary of the Fire Brigade Union of Western Australia 1987-1990. He was Western Australian State Secretary of the Labor Party 1991-1993. He was elected to the Senate in 1993.
Evans was an Opposition Whip in the Senate 1996-1998. He has been a member of the Opposition Shadow Ministry since 1998. He was Shadow Minister for Family Services and the Aged 1998-2001, Shadow Minister for Defence 2001-2004, Shadow Minister for Reconciliation, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Affairs 2003-2003, Shadow Minister for Defence Procurement, Science and Personnel 2004, Shadow Minister for Social Security 2004-2005. He has been Leader of the Opposition in the Senate since October 2004.
In June 2005 he was appointed Shadow Minister for Indigenous Affairs and Shadow Minister for Family and Community Services.
