Chris Burgert

Christopher M. Burgert was a sheriff's deputy in Bradford County, Pennsylvania. While attempting to serve a bench warrant for the arrest of Dustin Briggs of Wells Township on March 31, 2004, Burgert and Michael VanKuren were shot and killed.
On February 7, 2006, Briggs was found guilty of two counts of first-degree murder and one count of first-degree robbery. He was formally sentenced to death on March 15, 2006, almost two full years after the shooting.
