Chris Allen is currently a Senior Reporter on the Nine Network Australia's A Current Affair, a role he previously held from 1988 to 1993.

A career in journalism was not even a consideration when Chris began studying at the National Institute of Dramatic Arts in Sydney, alongside Mel Gibson and Judy Davis.

It was during this period that he decided to redirect his career and applied for a cadetship at The Courier Mail. Chris was then spotted by the Seven Network and quickly hired to report on Haydn Sargent's Brisbane program. Chris joined the Seven Network's Today Tonight in January 1997, resigning in March 2005 to re-join the Nine Network's A Current Affair.

His reports have included the Bali 9 drug arrests, the violent coup in Fiji in 2000, the Sydney Olympic Games in 2000, the 1998 Indonesian street riots and the 1998 tidal wave disaster in New Guinea.

Chris' other television credits include reporting for Seven's State Affair, the ABC News, The 7.30 Report and The Today Show. Chris is often produced by Sean Walsh. Chris is married to Catherine Allen-Ducat and they have three children.
